Hong Kong

After Shenzhen, the next step was to "cross the border" into Hong Kong. The border crossing in and of itself was very interesting because Hong Kong is part of China. However, there is an intensive border crossing procedure complete with immigration and customs. What is also strange is that Chinese citizens need special permission to travel to Hong Kong and may only do so for short trips of up to 7 days. Foreigners, on the other hand, may travel freely into Hong Kong with nothing more than a foreign passport (ie NO VISA) we may also stay up to 90 days.
the following are my pictures of Hong Kong.
One of the endless rows of apartment buildings around Hong Kong these are about 40 floors

The Shipping Yard outside of the hotel window. It was fun to watch the unloading of ships
This is the area on the other side of the same hotel

Circle K in the Hong Kong subway!

a beach off of Hong Kong island

A handsome guy on the beach on Hong Kong Island

A nifty building on the beach on Hong Kong Island (taken by handsome guy, pictured previously)

The city from above at night. There was a bit of fog.

From above again. still not clear....
this is what it would look like if it were clear. (this photo was borrowed from google)

Back down in the city.

a market near the hotel

People on the street. Many people stayed up late.

British-style cabs on the street. and YES they drive on the wrong side of the road!!!

NO EATING ON THE SUBWAY!!!! in fine print, you can see that the fine is 2500 dollars!!!

The light show on the harbor.

A ship on the Harbor
In all, I liked Hong Kong. But, after living in China for 5 months, I found Hong Kong to be a bit expensive. (about American Prices) It was a fun place to visit, but I spend more there than I did most of the rest of my trip all together,
